Our Story
Hi. I'm Captain Darren Sadler, and fishing has been my lifelong passion. From the age of 5, I've been casting lines and exploring the intricacies of angling. Growing up on a lake, I was always getting into trouble for being late to dinner because I was fishing. At 14, I discovered the art of fly fishing, and from that moment, it captured my heart and never let go.
Despite originally intending to work at a fish hatchery with my degree in Fish and Wildlife Management from Southwest Missouri State University, life took me on a different path. For ten years, I worked in a variety of position for Bass Pro Shops, immersing myself in the world of outdoor sports and gaining invaluable experience. Later, as a sporting goods rep in the Midwest, I further honed my skills and deepened my love for the great outdoors.
In 2018, I took a bold leap and obtained my US Coast Guard Captain's license, setting the stage for the establishment of Mozark Fishscapes. Partnering with my sister and her wife, we created a venture born out of a shared passion for fishing and a desire to share that passion with others.
Now, with over three decades of experience under my belt, I am living my dream every day through Mozark Fishscapes. It's more than just a guide service—it's a testament to our dedication to providing unparalleled fishing experiences and fostering a community of anglers united by our love for the water and the fish that call it home.

Community Involvement
At Mozark Fishscapes, we believe in giving back to the communities that support us. We proudly partner with local organizations such as Southwest Missouri Fly Fishers and Tri Lakes Fly Fishers, donating guided fishing trips to their fundraising auctions. These contributions not only support the clubs' initiatives but also provide anglers with the opportunity to experience the thrill of fly fishing in our stunning Ozarks waters.
In addition to donating trips, we're committed to nurturing the next generation of fly anglers and provide local fly fishing clubs with fly tying classes providing newcomers with the skills and knowledge they need to dive into the world of fly fishing. By introducing people to the art of fly tying, we hope to inspire a lifelong passion for the sport and ensure its continued growth in our community.
We are passionate about education and sharing our expertise with others. That's why we host free presentations on Lake Taneycomo skinny water fly fishing tactics for local clubs, sharing insights and techniques to help anglers navigate our rivers and streams with confidence. These presentations empower fellow enthusiasts to explore new waters and expand their fly fishing horizons.
